ESRI CityEngine: the Professional SimCity

©ESRI.com

Wow, I have to get this. ESRI recently released CityEngine 2011, which is basically a combination between next level GIS visualization and accessible city modelling software. DigitalUrban has been posting about the softwere here and here in the past days, with more to come, giving a preview of the software. The video at ESRI’s website is also amazing, showing how you can create your own city at different levels. You can even set the year you want the buildings to date from and the facades will get a style according to that period (going back centuries). The integration with ArcGIS also opens up great possibilities for the use of geo-data in the models.
